Note: The complete application form contains 268 data fields, ranging from simple yes/no checkboxes and fill-in-the-blank text fields to drop-down lists of allowed choices. Inputting data directly into a database and then generating the form for customer review and signature allows a sales agent to enroll three to five customers per hour during field visits to corporate clients.

Word template plays key role in sales force automation

A new template for Microsoft Word has played a key role in the development of a sales force automation tool at a prominent Midwestern insurance company.

The template receives data from the company's sales automation database and automatically formats the data to look like a conventional paper-based application form. The template even places digitized copies of the agent's and the customer's signatures on the form. Copies can be printed out one at time at the close of sale and also in batch mode back at the company's regional offices.

The template is compatible with Word 97 and Word 2000.
